Nessuno, o quasi, in Italia sa cosa sia un wonk e cosa abbia a che fare con la gestione di un ateneo. Per certi versi c’è da augurarsi che l’Università italiana possa rimanere immune da certe tendenze evidenti nel mondo anglosassone. Anche per questo è bene sapere cosa siano i policy wonks, soggetti con un tipico profilo da consulente sempre più presenti e influenti nell’accademia americana e inglese.
Wonks sit outside the traditional management structure of the university, and this is the key cause of tension between them and the members of an established hierarchy who thought they knew how to play the game of university power and politics long before the wonks arrived on the scene.
