Teaching vs researching universities. Questo il dibattito corrente in Italia. Siamo sicuri che questa contrapposizione abbia un senso? Qual’è il rapporto fra didattica e ricerca? Sul tema si esprime il blog di Noah Smith:

Within academia, research has higher status than teaching. The question is, why?…
Perhaps research is highly valued because it is in short supply…But scarcity cannot explain why dime-a-dozen mediocre researchers are accorded higher status than excellent teachers…and even a scarce commodity will have a low price if there is not much demand for it…
